Patriot Park - Del City, Oklahoma
Nestled on the grounds of the Del City Community Center in Del City, Oklahoma, Patriot Park is much more than a lush, green stretch of land—it stands as a solemn tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of America’s heroes.
A Park with Purpose
Patriot Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and includes walking trails, well-kept lawns, and seating areas designed to encourage reflection. Situated near Tinker Air Force Base, the park supports a strong local connection to the military community—and each Veterans Day, hundreds gather here for ceremonies honoring service members.
In summer 2022, Del City enhanced the park's utility and community health with a grant-funded outdoor fitness court. The court features full-body workout stations, hydration stations, and shaded areas, with classes offered periodically to the public.
The Heart of Patriot Park: Its Memorials
Patriot Park is home to six distinct memorials, each honoring different groups of veterans and community heroes:

Del City War Memorial (1995)
A tall, granite obelisk listing 21 local veterans who sacrificed their lives. The monument is surrounded by shrubbery, floral plantings, and flags (U.S., Oklahoma, Service, POW/MIA), illuminated at night. -
Soldier’s Cross (“Battlefield Cross”) – 2008
This moving tribute features an M16 rifle, helmet, and boots—symbolizing fallen soldiers—with metal silhouettes and garden landscaping enveloped by a circular fence. -
Mausoleum – 2010
A military tribute sheltering materials from the Vietnam Traveling Wall, built with a concrete wall embedding emblems of all U.S. Armed Forces branches. -
Blue Star Memorial – 2011
A Garden Clubs initiative installed as a tribute to those who have served, marked by a green-and-gold learning plate and prominent blue star. -
Women’s Veterans Monument – 2014
A powerful bronze sculpture by Joel Randell—one of the nation’s largest—depicting female veterans in formation, crafted to honor their service. Its reflecting pools, however, have occasionally been misused, prompting public reminders that this is a sacred memorial. -
