Shawnee Mall – Shawnee, Oklahoma
Located at 4901 N Kickapoo Avenue, just north of I‑40, Shawnee Mall first opened its doors in March 1989. Now spanning around 455,420 sq ft, it features roughly 50 stores and eight anchor tenants, including Dillard’s, Kohl’s, Ross Dress For Less, Dunham’s Sports, Ashley HomeStore, Jo‑Ann Fabrics, AMC Theatres, and Shoe Dept. Encore. Over the years, changes in anchor tenants have reflected retail trends—JCPenney closed in 2020 and its space is now Ashley HomeStore, while Dunham’s replaced the former Sears.
Diverse Retail and Dining Options
Shawnee Mall prides itself as the region’s largest retail destination, offering a mix of national chains and local favorites. Shoppers can find everything from fashion and beauty to home goods and electronics, with options like Bath & Body Works, Claire’s, City Wireless, Kool Stuff, Hot Topic, and the At The Pier arcade. Dining includes casual eateries such as Panda Express and Buffalo Wild Wings, along with snack options and seasonal offerings.
Family-Friendly Amenities
Beyond shopping, the mall offers amenities for all generations. A walk around the interior loop covers about a half-mile and is popular with mall walkers—open daily from 6 a.m. Mon–Sat and 9 a.m. on Sundays. AMC cinema and At The Pier arcade offer entertainment beyond retail. For convenience, the mall provides free Wi‑Fi, wheelchair accessibility, handicap parking, fax/copy services, and 24-hour security services.
Revitalization & Future Plans
In the aftermath of a 2023 tornado, Shawnee Mall underwent repairs and recent cosmetic enhancements. A New Jersey–based owner acquired the mall and is working to refresh the tenant mix and bring in restaurant pad sites—while retaining existing staff and anchor stores like Dillard’s and Kohl’s.
